Our club recently honored member Rick Blum as its Citizen of the Year. Rick has been a resident of Kirtland for many years, and is a Lubrizol Retiree where he was head of facilities. His volunteerism and service to our community include the Kirtland Planning and Zoning Commission, the Kirtland Public Library Board, and our own Kirtland Kiwanis, where he is a past board member and current advisor to our Builder's Club, and chairs many service projects, including the refurbishing of the High School Stadium.. Congratulations to Rick on this much-deserved honor!
December 11th was our annual Club Christmas Party and Card Signing. Over 30 members and spouses were in attendance to sign over 300 cards for residents of Golden Living Center and also Heartland of Mentor. After the card signing Santa made an appearance and we had the annual Gift Exchange. Bet you can see what the hot gift was this year! A great time was had by all!
On December 12th and 13th club members volunteered, along with our Key Club, in conjunction with the Kirtland Area Service Council, preparing and delivering food baskets to needy families in Kirtland. Thirty-one baskets were distributed This is a massive effort each year and Kirtland Kiwanis is proud to be a part of it!
Our club held its 1st Annual Baby Shower at the March 20, 2014 meeting. Members as well as spouses were on hand with an assortment of baby and mother gifts and books, all benefitting Hannah's Home in Mentor, which assists unwed mothers and their babies. Executive directors John and Pam Severa were on hand to witnesss the huge outpouring of generosity that took place, along with the traditional shower rituals and games. A truly fun and enjoyable evening was had by all in attendance! Thanks to our Young Children Priority One Committee for a job well done!

After over 16 years of meetings and good times, we celebrated our last meeting at The Kirtlander on November 20th, due to its closing. Thanks to the staff at the Party Center for all their years of dedication and service. We have since moved into our new location, The Kirtland Community Center. We hope to call this "our home" for many years to come.

On December 4th we hosted the Senior/Shut-in Dinner at The Kirtland Community of Christ Church. Kirtland residents as well as guests from Golden Living were in attendance to enjoy a warm and fun evening of good food and fellowship.

Our club hosted its 56th Anniversary Dinner on January 15th at The Kirtland Community Center. About 60 members and guests were in attendance, where awards were handed out for Legion of Honor, Service Milestones and Perfect Attendance. Immediate Past President Stan Krulc was also given a photo memory book which showcased his year as Kiwanis President in 2013-2014.We also saif goodbye to member Bob Sorensen and his wife Marcia, as they are returning home from their L.D.S. assignment in Kirtland. We wish the well!
Kirtland Recreation Park Renovations
Our club performed much needed renovations to the Kirtland Recreation Park in the form of such things as refurbishing the Kiwanis Pavilion, re-grading of ball fields and construction of several new dugouts.
